Principal Role and Responsibilities

 

Design and Modeling

  • Create detailed designs for mechanical components and assemblies
  • Develop CAD models and technical drawings
  • Perform engineering calculations and analyses
  • Validate designs against performance specifications
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards
  • Develop and test prototypes
  • Coordinate with manufacturing teams on design feasibility
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (quality, production, product management)
  • Provide manufacturing support and troubleshooting
  • Implement design improvements based on testing results

 

Manufacturing and Maintenance

  • Install, maintain, and upgrade production machinery and equipment
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment failures and breakdowns
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs
  • Monitor equipment performance and minimize downtime
  • Ensure safe operation of all mechanical systems
  • Design fixtures, jigs, and tooling for production
  • Work with design engineers on product manufacturability
  • Coordinate with production teams on process changes
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation
  • Conduct feasibility studies for new equipment or processes
  • Design solutions for manufacturing challenges
  • Investigate and resolve product defects and quality issues
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications
  • Validate manufacturing processes
  • Conduct root cause analysis on production problems
  • Support quality audits and inspections


 

Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure all repair activities comply with safety regulations and industry standards
  • Develop and enforce safety procedures for repair operations
  • Manage hazardous materials handling and disposal procedures
  • Maintain compliance with environmental regulations
  • Stay current with changing regulatory requirements
  • Conduct safety audits and risk assessments

 

Qualifications

 

  • Education in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Knowledge of 3D CAD software and engineering analysis tools
  • Strong understanding of mechanics, thermodynamics, materials science, and manufacturing processes
  • Basic understanding GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (Machining, Welding, Bending, Laser, etc)
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma
