VP.Start has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Electricité du Laos (EDL) to forge a strategic partnership on the Grid Modernization Roadmap. The initiative commences with the field deployment and piloting of VP.Start’s innovative technologies, seamlessly integrated into EDL’s existing grid infrastructure.
This marks a significant milestone and a proud achievement for VP.Start in exporting home-grown, Cambodian-engineered smart solutions to Lao PDR. The technology directly addresses core grid challenges, including the interoperability of legacy multi-brand equipment, inefficient grid management, distribution line losses, digital transformation demands, and advanced renewable energy integration.
The primary objective of piloting this Smart Grid technology in Laos is to demonstrate proven innovation, viable field solutions, and the transformative capability to upgrade conventional infrastructure into an intelligent distribution network—significantly reducing operational expenditures (OPEX) while minimizing power distribution losses.
This project is actively facilitated and partially funded by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) under its Green Technology initiative. Beyond enhancing grid efficiency, the substantial reduction in line losses represents a decisive contribution toward mitigating greenhouse gas emissions and advancing regional sustainability.
